Chocolate Hummus is unbelievably creamy and delicious! It is best served as a dessert, paired with things like strawberries, pretzels, or apples. You will love this, especially because it is made with cacao, which has a host of health benefits.

Ingredients

  • 2 ( 15 ounce) cans of chickpeas, drained

  • 1/3 cup tahini*

  • 3/4 cup cacao powder

  • 1/3 -1/2 cup milk, any type including alternatives to milk

  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

  • Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender. Be sure to use the tamper to help with the blending of all the ingredients. Blend until smooth.
  • Adjust sweetness and and add more milk if necessary for desired texture.
  • Serve with fresh fruit like apples, and strawberries, or try some pretzels.

Notes

  • To make tahini- add 4 cups toasted hulled sesame seeds and 3 tbsp olive oil to a high-powered blender until a paste forms.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding less or more maple syrup.
  • Adjusted texture and smoothness by adding less or more of the milk you choose.
  • You may use a food processor, however, to obtain a smoother texture a high-powered blender is preferred.
