This velvety smooth chocolate avocado mousse is so decadent and delicious that you won't even know it's made with avocados. It is super easy to make right from your food processor with only six ingredients. Enjoy! Don't forget to read the tips at the end of the recipe. The key to this sweet treat is the perfectly ripe avocados you will choose for it. This recipe is Paleo, Vegan, Gluten Free and Dairy Free

Ingredients

  • 2 Ripe Avocados, peeled, pitted * see notes at bottom

  • 2 Tablespoons unsweetened dutch cocoa powder or raw cacao powder*

  • 2 Tablespoons non-dairy milk*

  • 2-3 Tablespoons pure maple syrup or raw honey

  • 1/2 Teaspoon vanilla

  • pinch of kosher salt

  • Optional Toppings
  • Fresh cut or frozen berries

  • Whipped coconut cream

Directions

  • Blend all ingredients, until smooth, in a blender, food processor or using a hand held mixer. Serve immediately, or chill first (recommended).

Notes

  • * It is important to choose a perfectly ripe avocado. If the avocado is too hard, it will be like blending rocks. If it is too mushy, it will throw the taste of the mousse off.
  • Dutch-processed cocoa powder is milder and less acidic than natural cocoa powder.
  • You can skip the salt.
  • Adjust the taste after you have processed the ingredients-add more cocoa or sweetener since the size of avocados vary.
  • You can use water instead of non-dairy milk
  • This recipe can be made a few hours ahead but should be consumed the day it is made.
  • You can freeze this pudding for an icy treat.
