Ceylon Cinnamon Lemon Tea

This simple aromatic tea blends the health benefits of Ceylon tea with that of lemons for a healthy, tasty tea!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups filtered water

  • 1 Ceylon cinnamon stick

  • 2 pieces of lemon( small chunks)

  • optional:
  • raw honey to taste

  • slice of lemon for garnish and added flavor

Directions

  • Pour filtered water in a small pot.
  • When it begins to boil add the cinnamon stick. Reduce heat and simmer for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add the lemon pieces to the cinnamon and water and continue to simmer another 2 minutes or so.
  • Pour water into a strainer-covered mug. You may add honey if you would like and a slice of lemon. Drink up for your health!

  • There are claims that drinking Ceylon cinnamon lemon water is best in the morning or on an empty stomach before a meal as it may stimulate digestion and prevent blood sugar spikes.
  • You may use powdered Ceylon cinnamon. Start with a small amount and test before adding more. Use Ceylon cinnamon for this recipe. It is readily available in most specialty and health food stores.
  • Ceylon is the choice over cassia cinnamon because it is heart healthy, blood sugar balancing, brain protective, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidants benefits. It does not carry the toxicity risk of cassia cinnamon. Ceylon also has a light, delicate flavor.
  • Lemon contains high amounts of vitamin C and supports heart health, digestive health. In addition it may help manage weight.
  • I recommend drinking this tea every other day but you decide. Enjoy!
